Dog Licenses
At this time our offices are CLOSED to the public to comply with the Governor’s Order.
All dogs over 6 months of age are required to be registered with the town clerk by April 1st each year per state statute. 2021 Dog licenses are available now.
** PLEASE NOTE: IF EMAILING A COPY OF RABIES CERTIFICATE, PLEASE SCAN AND ATTACH AS A PDF.

To register by mail while the offices are closed:
New Dogs:
» Register a new dog by mailing or emailing a copy of a current rabies certificate, owner’s name, address and contact information, dog breed, color, age, size (small, medium or large) and date of spay or neuter.
» Payments may be made by check (mail or drop box). You can also make payments online at www.essexvt.org (convenience fees will be charged)
» License and tag(s) will be mailed to you.(Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope)
Renewals:
» Renew by mail or email by sending the fee and current rabies certificate.

Cats & Other Animals
There are no licensing requirements for cats or other animals. If you have an animal related problem call animal control at 802-878-1333.
