Standard Specifications for Construction
These are the requirements for all new construction as well as reconstruction projects within the Town of Essex outside the Village of Essex Junction involving:
- Ancillary infrastructure
- Roads
- Sewer
- Storm drainage
- Water

- Chapter 1 (PDF)
- Contains information to all contractors bidding on projects for the Town of Essex.
- Chapter 2 - Conditions and Requirements for Development Projects (PDF)
- Details the special conditions required for development projects, in addition to the requirements in Chapter 4.
- Chapter 3 - Erosion and Sediment Control (PDF)
- Contains the erosion and sediment control requirements common to all construction within the Town of Essex. The Town of Essex will strictly enforce all requirements within this section.
- Chapter 4 - General Conditions (PDF)
- Contains the conditions and requirements common to all construction within the Town of Essex. It is applicable to work performed by Public Works forces, contractors hired by the Town of Essex, developers, and contractors employed by developers.
- Chapter 5 - Technical Specifications (PDF)
- Provides the technical specifications for streets and other street lighting related items, stormwater control facilities, sanitary sewers, and potable water systems.
- Appendix A - Standard Construction Details
- Contains detailed drawings depicting the requirements stated in all chapters of this document. It is intended that design engineers will use the Town's standard drawings on all projects within the Town of Essex.
